Unique summer opportunity. 

Would you like to be paid to spend part of your summer at beautiful Fountain Park Chautauqua? We are hiring energetic individuals to help us continue to make Fountain Park a wonderful place and an historic landmark. The positions below are short term and run for our two-week season in Remington, Indiana.

Activities Director

Duties

  • Create daily schedules taking into account children’s age groups and interests from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Example here.

  • Organize and lead outdoor team games such as soccer, softball, baseball, kickball, Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, and explaining the rules and acting as referee or umpire throughout the game  

  • Lead recreational and educational activities such as crafts, science, tie dye, writing, campfire s'mores, art, and demonstrating various techniques and encouraging children to come up with ideas  

  • Lead Story Time daily for younger Park attendees

  • Organize and lead Fountain Park Olympics on the middle Saturday

  • Organize some Fountain Park events attended by the entire Park community, such as the Watermelon Feast and the Cake and Ice Cream Social

  • Provide guidance, motivation and support to all Park attendees

Qualifications

​​

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Organizational and communication skills

  • Patient and reliable

  • A love for children

  • Energetic and positive personality

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like sports, running, crouching or carrying children)

  • First aid- and CPR-certified preferred

  • You may need to pass a drug or background test

Hotel Chef

Duties

  • Preparing and assembling ingredients for menu items

  • Preparing high-quality meals and food items according to recipes to be served "family style" in the dining room

  • Storing excess food at the correct temperature in order to avoid spoilage

  • Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet dining room standards

  • Monitoring supplies and re-ordering/purchasing stock as needed

  • Ensuring that cooking utensils are clean before each use

  • Cleaning and sterilizing food preparation areas

  • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed

  • Managing team of teen servers

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques

  • Proven experience working as a Cook

  • The ability to follow recipes

  • The ability to work with others

  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • Effective communication skills

Hotel Manager

Duties

​

  • Greet and register guests and take meal reservations

  • Work with and communicate with Hotel Chef regarding dining reservations

  • Inspect the grounds, public areas, bathrooms, and guest rooms for appearance and cleanliness

  • Some light housekeeping

  • Ensure standards for housekeeping, decor and guest services are met

  • Answer guest questions about hotel services and policies

  • Keep track of the hotel’s financials

  • Ensure the hotel is running well and guests are happy

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Attention to detail

  • Some knowledge of hotel operating procedures

  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
